Proof-of-Coverage is a unique work algorithm that uses radio waves to validate Hotspots are providing legitimate wireless coverage.

For this validation work Hotspots can earn Helium tokens by verifying network transactions, adding new blocks to the blockchain, and performing other tasks.

Frictionless Device Onboarding

LongFi combined with the Helium blockchain allows a company to onboard as many devices they need without additional configurations or third-party assistance.

Device Roaming

During onboarding devices are mapped to a company ID on the blockchain, and become trusted by the network letting them connect and send data via any Hotspot.

Micropayment Transactions

LongFi allows owners to earn Helium when devices transfer data over the network through their Hotspots.

Fully Bi-Directional

Hotspots use LongFi to wirelessly communicate over sub-GHz radio waves (not Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or cellular) to deliver over-the-air (OTA) firmware updates, and push commands to devices.

Helium Hotspot

The Hotspot serves as both the backbone of the network by providing many square miles of connectivity and as a node for the Helium blockchain which powers the reward system.

Hotspots can support thousands of devices, yet only require about the same amount of power as an LED light bulb (5W).
