Helium Plus sets off a Hot Streak at Hialeah Park Casino

Three weeks after going live, the casino’s own Wi-Fi served more than 1,100 carrier subscribers in a single day.

Hialeah Park has been drawing crowds to South Florida since 1925, first to its storied racetrack and now to a casino floor that runs year-round. On October 1, another new feature hit the floor. Through Helium Plus, the Helium Network’s Wi-Fi offload program, subscribers of a tier-1 carrier are now routed onto the casino’s own Wi-Fi automatically, easing the cellular load without building an expensive new DAS.

A Century Of Crowds

The 100-year-old facility is home to one of the most famous racetracks in America. The property is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and its infield flamingo colony is a designated Audubon sanctuary. Hialeah Park added the casino in 2013, which is now a major anchor for the park’s daily business.

A casino concentrates cellular demand the way few buildings do. Guests stay for hours with phones in hand, streaming, messaging, and paying. Large indoor venues are exactly where phones struggle most. Most big venues answer that problem with a distributed antenna system (DAS), a network of indoor cell antennas that repeats carrier signals throughout the building. DAS is tremendously expensive to install and maintain. Hialeah Park never built one.

Inside Hialeah Park Casino's Network

The casino’s enterprise-grade Wi-Fi network onboarded to the Helium Network earlier this year, effectively converting an asset it already owned and had invested in to carrier infrastructure, without requiring any new construction or hardware.

Wi-Fi offload uses Passpoint, a standard protocol built into modern phones, to move carrier subscribers onto the venue's Wi-Fi automatically and securely, with no app and no sign-in, using credentials already on the device. A guest's phone joins the casino's network the moment they walk in, and the cellular system keeps its headroom for everyone else.

Hialeah Park’s First Three Weeks, By The Numbers

Hialeah Park Casino carried its first carrier traffic on October 1, 2026. By October 2 it was serving 503 subscribers a day. On October 18 it set its single-day record: 1,179 subscribers of a tier-1 carrier connected through the casino’s Wi-Fi. Over its first three weeks the network carried roughly 846 GB across more than 127,000 sessions.

The pattern tracks the casino’s typical surge in patrons. Weekend crowds set the peaks, and weekdays settle into a steady 400 to 700 subscribers a day.

As of November 2026, the Helium Network spans more than 57,000 access points and serves nearly 1.7 million people every day. Hialeah Park joined them in a matter of weeks, and as more carrier traffic moves onto its network, the casino earns more from infrastructure it already owns.
