With Helium, you can prototype an Internet of Things application in minutes.

Here are the simple steps to follow:

Step 1

Select an off-the-shelf sensor to enable for connection to the Helium Cloud. I2C, analog, 4-20mA and digital devices are supported. Helium's Quick Start Guide has a primer on how to select a sensor for your application.

Step 2

Connect the sensor to your Helium Atom Development Board directly using I2C, or via our analog or digital extension boards for non-I2C sensors.

Step 3

Provide power to the Helium Atom Development Board via USB or the included lithium polymer battery.

Step 4

Plug in the Helium Element access point. This will provide network connectivity to your Helium Atom Development Board.

Step 5

Log into the Helium Dashboard to see the transmitted data from the Helium Atom Development board's onboard sensors and retrieve your API key from your account.

Step 6

Configure your sensor parameters in Helium Script and and deliver it as a payload in a POST to the Helium Script REST endpoint.

Step 7

Upon successful receipt of the over the air update, your sensor readings will now be available in the Helium Dashboard.

Step 8

Using your API key, you can now view your sensors' readings in a web or mobile application by making standard HTTP requests to the API endpoints.
