Started a new franchise on my Madden ‘09 game on the Wii. I’m the Sanfrancisco 49ers (somebody has to give them some support these days!) and I’m just playing the preseason games.
Had a fairly disastrous first game at the Oakland Raiders losing 41-21. Gave up too many big plays in the secondary (tackling was abysmal in all honesty). The offense seems to run better with QB J.T O’Sullivan at the helm (playing backup at the moment).
I signed WR Mike Furrey as a free agent and he made a few good catches - TEs Vernon Davis and Delanie Walker were effective.
The second game of preseason was a 41-20 victory over the visiting Green Bay Packers. After trailing 20-7 at the half with the starters it wasn’t looking good.
Packers’ backup QB Matt Flynn was in shaky form as he tossed six interceptions (SS Keith Lewis snagged three). Backup RBs Deshaun Foster and Michael Robinson were efficient (Robinson tallied over 100 yards). The big news was the loss of MLB Patrick Willis to a dislocated shoulder (ruling him out for at least 10 weeks!).
