The basics

Medical research encompasses many fields of investigation focused on determining the cause, prevention, and treatment of disease. This includes genetics, microbiology, immunology, pathology, virology, clinical and surgical studies, and pharmacology, among others.

Medical research has cured disease, developed treatments, identified the genetic basis of disease, and is at the center of the fight against cancer, developing an HIV/AIDS vaccine, new surgical interventions and technological advances, and bringing obscure diseases to light.

Thanks, Olivia. Hi Mechelle, I like to discuss health questions, but I also always add the caveat that a person should talk to their doctor before taking my advice :)
