Homeschool -- A Learning Adventure!

What is it that you just LOVE about homeschooling?

Maybe it's a favorite subject, a particular activity or perhaps a certain day of the week.  For me, it is many different things...

- I love those Ah-Ha! moments ... the times when something finally "clicks" with your child and a new or difficult concept is grasped.  Seeing the sparkle in their eyes makes all your efforts worthwhile!

- I love the fact that we have the right to homeschool openly without fear.  Back when we began in 1985, there was a lot of suspicion among the general public and some school superintendents in particular. We were on the radar, so to speak, and the pressure was tremendous.  Thankfully, it's not that way anymore.

- I love the quality time I got to spend with our children!  Being their teacher meant I had the joy and privilege of introducing them to the wonders of God's creation .. the orderliness of basic arithmetic, fascinating people in history and much, much more.

- I love the way homeschooling pulls a family together.  We traveled a lot and visited many different state and national parks.  We explored museums, caves, woods, streams, rock quarries and more.  We also met a lot of fascinating people in those years and learned something from each.  One of our richest experiences was hosting foreign missionaries in our home.

I hope you'll take a few moments to come up with your own reasons for why you love to teach your children at home.  Your reasons are probably different than mine, because no two homeschool families are the same.

Let's all put our hearts into the rest of this school year -- for the sake of our children.
