Welcome to Helium's Zones and Social Networking

Zones and Social Networking are Helium's latest products.

The page you are viewing right now is an example of one of our Zones -- blocks of editable content clustered around a single subject. In fact, our user guide is a series of Help Zones (which can be found to the right of this block). 

Groups bring social networking to Helium. You can form a private group with your friends or join an existing open group. If you don't find an answer to your question in one of the Help Zones, visit the Feedback and News forums in Groups. There are always Helium staff and members willing to help answer your questions.

Helium's new internal Messaging system bypasses email, allowing you to communicate more directly with Helium and fellow members.

Lastly, we've added a powerful new social networking tool to make sure our members get the most out of their relationships here at Helium. Not only can you communicate easier with fellow writers (internal messages), but you can add them as friends, follow them, and be updated of their latest status all in one place, your "Following Activities" log.

Zones

Zones are Helium's mini-websites that users create around focused subjects.

Zones are literally put together with building blocks of content, from Helium Debates and articles to YouTube videos, weather updates, Google maps and much more. If you think a picture is worth more than 1000 words on a subject, add it to your Zone! Want to try a new Web presence for your business? Grab a Zone and get creative!

Creating a Writer Portfolio?

Groups

Groups are Helium's solution to integrating all our features while allowing users to network and communicate. Any member can form, join, and view groups. You can join or form a group for the Zone you help edit, get the latest information on topics you'd like to write about on Helium and Marketplace, and communicate with other members and groups. Create one for your favorite sports team, car, video game, celebrity, or hobby...the opportunities are endless.

Messaging

Our internal mail system lets you contact another member with one click or send a message to a whole group, making it easier to network and meet new people on Helium.

Example Zones

Need some inspiration before you jump in a Zone? Check out these Zones and see what you can do:

  • A  Writer Portfolio is a great way to showcase all your work in one place. If you've been looking for a way to contribute a series to Helium or just want to be sure your articles get seen in a certain context, here's the place to do it. And you can include work from any site you have contributed to on the web. It's your Zone.
  • Passionate about a particular subject? This  Grandparents Zone shows how a Zone can pull together all types of articles and content in one spot.
  • If you own a business, try a  Company Zone to promote yourself on the Web. Add product pictures, service descriptions and you're on your way!

Hi, I'm wishing that this post gets read by anyone who can get me to the first step of finding help here. Either I'm not pushing the right button or I have a handicap, but I've written about 7 articles and I'm being told I need to network with Hellium, How? Thanks in advance.

I think I may have a confession to make. I AM A BETAVILLE ADDICT. I have just published a music zone that I am going to link to other music related zones that I am still contructing or are already on Helium. Love it. Hope you guys like my efforts?

I am a newbie to Helium and was thrilled when my very first contribution was picked up by the Marketplace client. I am a seasoned writer with a 2000+ strong library. The new initiatives from Helium are indeed laudable and provides a level playing to every writer wherever he/she is on the Globe. Kudos Helium. So far, I have been concentrating on writing and when it comes to using the resources available, I think I need some technical guidance to go about showcasing my wares on Helium. If any knowledgeable person can guide me, I would be obliged indeed.
