Helium Messaging

Intra-site messaging is now available at Helium.

You can contact any Helium member or Group (that allows incoming messages) within the site.

"InBox," in the red navigation bar at the top of this page, is your starting point for viewing, creating, sending, deleting or archiving messages.

Sending Messages

To send a message, click “InBox” in the red navigation bar at the top of this page. This will take you to your inbox. Select “Compose” from the list of options on the left and type your message in the text box that appears.

If the intended recipient of your message is not already in your contact list, click “[Lookup or Edit Addresses]” in the “To:” field. Enter the name of the Helium member or Group in the "Name:" box and click the "Search" button.

If your search is successful,[Add]” the recipient and the name will appear in the "To:" field of your email message. Then click "Done" and you will be returned to your message. When it's complete, click "Send."

Checking Your Messages

To read your messages, click "Inbox” in the red navigation bar at the top of this page. This will take you to your inbox, where you can view all of your email, new or old. Click on the subject line to view the complete message.

Email Alerts

To get email alerts regarding messages received within Helium, click "Zones" in the red navigation bar at the top and select "Message Preferences" from the options on the left.

Five choices appear, from "Never" to "Immediately when an alert arrives in my inbox." The default setting is “Bundle up alerts and send daily as needed.”

Mass Mailing to Groups

If you are a Manager, there is a simple way to send a message to all members of your Group.

1. Select "InBox" from the red navigation bar up top.

2. Choose "Compose" from the list on the left.

3. Select "[Lookup or Edit Addresses]" in the "To:" field.

4. Under "Find" select "Groups."

5. Type in the title of your Group, or bits of the title, and click "Search."

6. When the name of your Group appears, "[Add]" it.

7. Craft and send your message.

It is important to note that some, but not all, Groups even allow members to send mass messages to the Group. However, this is up to the Group's Manager.
