Learn about [Edit] options for your Zone

Each Zone can be edited by its Zone manager, any Helium administrator, or users listed as contributing editors.

If you are authorized to edit a Zone (discussed later in THIS Zone),  you will see a small “[edit]” command near the top left of the page.  Select this to edit the Zone.

Options found in

Page Title: This is the title of your Zone. You either chose it from a predetermined list or submitted it yourself. You can change the Page Title if you wish.

Display Title: Gives Zone Managers and Editors the option to display the title of their Zone on the top of the page. Remember: When this option is turned off you may lose some SEO traffic.

Tags for Tag Clouds: This automatically includes the title of your Zone. Feel free to add other words that are related to your Zone.

Description: Description of your Zone. Automatically contains the title of your Zone.

Did you mean keywords:  Keywords that Internet users might use when searching for the topic covered by your Zone.

Alternate Zone names: Other names which describe your Zone.

Manager Credits Block: Determine where you want your Manager Credit block placed on your Zone: top right, bottom above the Zone comments, or completely removed.

Dynamic Ads: This is an advanced feature for how to display ads correctly on a Zone.

Helium Navigation: This feature is not yet ready.  In the future, we plan to give our users the choice of the type of navigation bar which is shown at the top.

Primary Channel: The basic category your Zone falls under.

Preview Page

Shows what it would look like to visitors - front end view. Clicking “Preview Page” also displays a second navigation tier. You have options to return to the edit mode, edit permissions (add editors to your Zone), look at older versions, view statistics and click overlays.

Upload Thumbnail

Think of it like a default picture on Facebook, but for your Zone. Give your Zone a thumbnail in order to get it on the Homepage as one of the Featured Zones, Most Popular, or Recently Created.

"Request to Release Lock" Command

If the Zone is already being worked on by another editor, you cannot immediately edit the page. Instead you should see this option: “Request to release Lock.” Use this sparingly because you might be interrupting someone else’s edits.

Visit the Help and Feedback Forums for Help. We’ll answer any question you may have.

Save Version

If you are making changes to a Zone, but are not ready for it to go live (be published), choose “Save Version” instead of "Publish." You will then have a version of your Zone saved that you can continue working on later.

Show Versions

Managers and editors can look through previous versions of the page. An example is every time I “publish” my Zone, the new changes I make are saved and are used, but when I look at the previous versions it is like searching through former drafts/versions that were published previously.

Publish

Makes your Zone live.

I'm trying to delete a blog post from February on my Zone. I delete it... I click "yes" when prompted "Are you sure you want to delete this blog post?" and yet the post is still there. What am I missing?

I am asking the same question as Amber. I want to delete my zone that I created and create a diffrent zone. I have not been approved for the first zone that I created, that's why I want to delete and make a new one.

How do I delete a zone I created? I don't see the option anywhere. I didn't realize I could only create one and I would rather create a personal portfolio.

Wow I wish I would have read this prior to making 14 versions of my zone. I am still waiting for approval for that too. Does it matter how often you make versions? I might want to keep adding and changing? Very helpful info here.
