DAVIS, Calif., Feb. 9 (UPI) -- An older mother is at a significantly elevated risk of having a child with autism, regardless of the father's age, U.S. officials have found. A 10-year study examining 4.9 million births in the 1990s has found more evidence that there's a link between autism and the mother's age at conception. Women who give birth after age 40 are nearly twice as likely to have a child with autism as those under 25, but it is unlikely that delayed parenthood plays a big role in the current autism epidemic, California researchers reported Monday.
