Where Knowledge Rules

Soaring To Glory

We are a nonprofit organization that provides resources for underprivileged elementary school students in Boston so that they can reach their fullest potential.

Make a difference in a student's life by...

Donating School Supplies - You can help by donating supplies you have, whether they be new or used, so long as they are in good working order.

Donating Money - You can help by donating money (every penny counts!). Just $1 can buy 15 children pencils.

Donating Time - You can volunteer your time as an after school teacher.  Every little bit counts.  We'd especially love to hear from Spanish speakers who would like to work with children who recently immigrated to the United States. Boston doesn't have ESL anymore, so these students are taught a brand new subject in a foreign language.

Also, we're looking for people to help us secure partnerships with corporations so  we can ensure that we'll be providing these schools with sustainable funding.

We're always looking for new volunteers with fresh ideas, so if you have any ideas or projects you'd like to suggest, please get in touch!

Upcoming Events

We are going to host a fundraiser for Christmas. We want to be able to surprise these students with their school supplies when they return from holiday break. We are going to take video footage and post it on this Zone afterwards. You'll get to see the children's happy faces when they find out they finally have the tools they need to learn and succeed in life!

Oh, and all donations are tax deductible.

on Jan 14, 09 at 03:51 PM

Since this is the beginning of the year, we want to start off this year with a bang. There are so many ways to help these students, and I'm sure they'd like to start off the new year right too! Think of how much you can help these students with just a $5 donation. Think of how much we can help children if everyone donates just $5. Help us help tomorrow's youth by giving them the proper tools to succeed.

Should the government be cutting funding for elementary schools?

by Zachary Belins

We all care about the schooling of our children - or do we? It seems that in times of economic crisis the education budget gets slashed first. Some satirically point out that perhaps the budget is bei...More>

I like the site. Almost led me to donate a dollar. Only, I'm short on dollars and I've no reason to help in Boston when the schools where I live are just as beleaguered. My only thought that might draw in more donations is this: put a face to your cause. Not the same old tired face of a poor kid in a poor neighborhood, but the face of a young girl or boy who wants to learn, but is being held back by a lack of resources. That's a lot to see in a kid's eyes, so let something in the background help to tell the story, i.e., an empty book cover on the floor of a rundown classroom while the kid is earnestly dressed and earnest-looking. With your message, it's the right picture. Also, the word "students" at the end of your mission statement is missing an apostrophe. It's possessive, so it should read: "a young student's ability to learn." Don Winston

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide services and supplies to elementary schools that do not have enough resources for each and every child to reach his or her fullest potential.  We recognize that children cannot control the circumstances they live in and that every child deserves a chance to succeed.  We are dedicated to breaking any economic barriers that may inhibit a young students ability to learn.

I don't know who invented that fucking word 'starchitect'. In fact a journalist invented it, I think. I am not a 'star-chitect', I am an ar-chitect..." Just 10 minutes into the interview, Frank Owen Gehry, the world's most feted building designer, is already a bit irate. A short, owlish man, who looks younger than his 80 years, he speaks quietly when left to his own devices, and meanders, never ...
