Rachelle de Bretagne's Writer Zone

Basic Information About Me

A writer since childhood, I have been involved in the written word all of my life. Winning poetry awards at the age of nine, I furthered my career by writing short stories for English, Australian, American and French women's magazines. For the past ten years, I have been an Internet writer, starting my career on Ciao.co.uk, Dooyoo.co.uk and Epinions. Disenchanted by writing product reviews, I turned to more creative work, and found my place at Helium.com where I can write on any number of subjects which interest me, in a magazine format. Having completed the NanoWrimo fiction novel writing quest two years running, I hold Certificates for my achievements, and enjoyed the experience of writing two novels. Working on my piece de resistance, I intend to publish my first serious work in the coming 5 years, the idea for which is already sketched, and the characters formed.

What I Like to Write About

Having spent a lifetime in the service of others in both my work and life in general, I enjoy writing about things that matter. As little people, we get a chance to make a difference, and the articles I write are help guides for people from all walks of life, looking for information and advice. If those words make a difference, then they have long lasting value.

When info comes up on a computer screen, it's immediately translated to Sumerian in my mind. I know a word or two in Sumerian but I can't remember either of them. I'd like to collect my lit crit essays into a Writer Zone and maybe make another for my original poetry. But I can never find steps 1,2 &3 for how to go about this. I posted a moment ago in the Memoir group but I was afraid to write the title of my memoir for fear the self promo ax would fall on my neck. I didn't know whether to sign my posting, figure out how to import a picture, or whether one or both of those things would be taken care of automatically. I'm still not clear on the difference between a group and a zone. Do I know append my name?

Poetry writings.

"Fool", said my muse to me, "Look in thy heart and write" - William Shakespeare.

Here is a mixture of poetry written by me over the last two years.

Poetry reflecting my life and thoughts.

  • Living in the mountains of France inspired this work.
  • This one was inspired by the signs that you see in a coffee shop window asking for help, though I tried to add a twist to the verse.
  • Often we need a child's eye view to put things into perspective and to see the positivity in life.
  • From youth I always fought against being a carbon copy and this poem was written for a Helium contest on the subject.

For calmer moments of reflection.

Music to set your mind into the mode for writing.
