What I Like to Write About

I write mostly about alternative health and gardening. As Channel Manager for the Alternative Health sub-channel, I have the opportunity to learn and share knowledge of this subject matter.   All of my passions and interests can be found in my writing.  Their presence may not always be obvious, but there is usually some element of my faith, history, or nature in anything I create.  I am always studying herbal medicine, and I try to convey nature's healing powers through my compostions. The glory of God's creation inspires and renews me.

My writing often involves a personal connection between the past and present.  We have so many sources of courage from history's examples; I address this theme in my Zone The Explorer -- A Novel.    In this novel, a twentieth- century woman is aided by the gift of friendship with legendary explorer Meriwether Lewis.  I write the story to encourage readers to find hope from those who have gone before us.

My other interests, such as cooking and gardening, appear now and then in my writing.  I am grateful for Helium, where I can refine my skills, get exposure for my writing, and connect with other writers.

Lovely zone, Judy. I see you are an herb enthusiast as I am. I'm linking your articles to my herb garden zone. See you there!

You have the beginnings of a beautiful zone Judy and I enjoy your novel-progress as well, entitled, "The Explorer-A Novel." This writer's zone is easy to read and take notice of all your interests, passions, and links to your articles. Well done. And Thank-you. J Gregory

As fall approaches and the kids go back to school, it's time to replenish the natural remedy medicine cabinet. Cold and flu season is already making a comeback, so why not read up on useful herbs and homeopathic medicines for the coming winter? Here at my Writer's Portfolio, I've added links to articles, how-to guides, and topic pages about remedies for the coming season. I hope you'll stay a while and peruse these pages.

As always, I hope you'll look at the Alternative Health sub-channel and read the informative articles. Many writers share their knowledge of this subject area, and there's always plenty to learn. See you there!

With all the blizzards in the news lately, it is hard to believe that spring is on its way; already I am planning my herb and vegetable garden.  This year, I will have a container garden.  Check out the links to my articles on herbs and gardening for some ideas for your own garden.

Stay warm, everybody!

As cold, gray winter aproaches, the need for green signs of life increases.  At home, we are nurturing some new plants which will grow into a Bonsai garden.  My husband ordered some seeds and plants, and has spent the past couple of days lovingly creating a suitable growing area for them in the living room.  Some seeds will need to stay in the refrigerature for several weeks; other tiny trees already have their fall leaves.

My own indoor herb garden will be moved to the credenza in front of the picture window.  They are already enjoying their daily dose of sunshine, which streams in at about 9:00 every morning.

Plants can provide companionship, just as pets can.  It is daunting to realize that some of these plants may outlive us, but rewarding to know that by nurturing this part of God's
