Often our love for gardening  can be an expensive persuit. Greenhouses and garden centers are of course in the business of selling seedlings, plants, trees and seeds. Even packaged seeds have risen in price over the years. This site is a guide to the creative and frugal gardner. Here you will learn how to plant just about anything from seeds, whether it be exotic fruits, flosers, tomatoes, fruit trees including apple trees as well as shrubs and trees. You will also get some useful tips about gathering seeds from your garden and propagating plants from existing ones which will also save you money. From time to time I will be sharing with you actual plants I have grown from seeds.

The most obvious reason for growing plants from seed is the lower cost per plant. This is especially important if you are growing many plants for a profit. Growing from seed for pleasure may be another reason. Children, as well as adults, can learn much about how plants grow by starting from seed.

Variety

Starting from seed lets you grow the widest variety of plants, including many new and unusual varieties that are not available in most stores. The best time to start seeds indoors is six to eight weeks before the last frost date for your area.
