The Bible And History

For centuries the contents of the Old Testament have been taken for granted, and assumed by some to be true, no matter how fantastic they may seem, while others have seen them as just stories passed down over the ages and with no basis on real events.  The role of the Christian church has always been to have it's followers believe that God made the world in seven days, and that Man was made in God's image.

What happens when we explore this further and relate these verses to the texts from tablets that have been discovered in what was Sumeria and Babylon?  You might be very surprised.

The Works Of Zecharia Sitchin

Zecharia Sitchin is an accomplished Scholar whose knowledge of both modern and ancient Hebrew as well as other Semitic and European languages is second to none.

He has spent much of his life studying the Old Testament and correlating this to the history and archeology of the Near East.

Can We Take The Bible Literally?

The story of creation is one of the most controversial areas of The Bible, and yet for all of it's comonality with how scientists believe the earth was formed and life forms evolved, the first chapters of the Book Of Genesis are a very sumarized version of the same stories from the writings of ancient Sumeria.

Not only do the Sumerian stories go into a lot more detail and provide far more insight into the creation story, there are several strange facts listed in Genesis as you can see below...

Genesis Chapter 1

Genesis Chapter 1 Verse 26 says:

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Note that it does not find God talking to himself, it's plural!

Genesis Chapter 6

In the sixth chapter of Genesis we find:

Gen 6:1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
Gen 6:2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
Gen 6:3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
Gen 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

So this is another reference to God being more than one person, and also having families.  The "Gods" created man, and later interbred with mankind.   Not only that, but the Gods were "giants", larger in stature than man.

The Evidence Is Out There

In recent years, there have been archaeological findings of skeletons of people from many thousands of years ago that are larger than man is today.

Egyptian tombs contain corn and other items that did not exist in Europe before the discovery of the New World.  There is strong evidence that the Egyptians travelled to South America and up the Amazon.

Why do pyramids exist all over the world? 

Why to all ancient peoples share the same stories, including that of a great flood?

Why is it that the further back you go in history, the more mankind knew about the heavens, the stars, and science?

How do you explain the fact that Bronze clamps were used on structures in the ancient city of Tiahuanaco in Bolivia? 

Bronze was not known in the New World until the Spanish Conquest.  Bronze is a composit of Tin and Copper.  The area around Tiahuanaco has the largest Tin deposits in the world.  The Sumerian word for Tin is AN.NA which means Heavenly Stone.  The Sumerian word for Copper is TI.AN.NA

There are just too many coincidences to go into in a short space, but if you take the time to investigate more, this is a very fascinating subject.

Zecharia Sitchin's Theories

In a nutshell, from his studies of the ancient texts, Zecharia Sitchin suggests that man like peoples called the Annunaki, or in the Book Of Genesis the Nefilim came to earth about 400,000 years ago.   They came from a 12th planet in our Solar System, one that has a very eliptical orbit, and came for earth's mineral resources.

The Annunaki needed a worker to help in their toils, and created man by cloning an ape like creature with themselves.  Now Genesis calls the first man Adam, and in the ancient language of Sumeria, Adama means Worker.

What If?

Only 150 years ago, Greek epics such as The Iliad and The Odyssey, and Trojan War were considered to be works of fiction, but in the 1870's Heinrich Schliemann discovered the ruins of Troy after a lifetime of searching.  There is evidence for the Iliad and Odyssey to be based on real events.  In fact most events from Ancient History have been shown to have occurred.

There is even geological proof of a great flood thousands of years ago.

So why should the strories of Atlantis, and peoples coming from another planet also be true?

If they created man by cloning, and in Babylonian E-DIN (Eden) means Birthing Chamber, then maybe this explains why there is no missing link between the apes and man.  Maybe it also means that there were at one time Centaurs and Minotaurs and that these are not just ficticious creatures.  Who knows...

Going back through the ages, there have been descriptions of flying machines and space travel all over the world.  There is evidence of atomic blasts in parts of the world, including the area where Sodom And Gomorrah once stood.

Is it possible that there were advanced civilizations around the world prior to the last ice age, and that when this cataclism occurred, most of these were wiped out, but outpockets of survivors remained, living in caves maybe, surviving as best as they could in primitive conditions for thousands of years, and the stories of the ancients were passed on down the generations.

What were the secrets of the High Priests of old?  Were they really Gods or Demi-Gods? 

Maybe we will never know, but if you open your mind to the posibilities, it all makes perfect sense, rather than believe that man started life in caves.
