The Science Channel at Helium

What about science?

This zone is dedicated to Helium's Science Channel and can help you find articles in the Science Channel to read or to write to.  It can also help you find new titles to write to.  There is a Science news feed bringing you up-to-date science news. Articles here are by Helium's best science writers.

Science includes all disciplines that are studied and researched according to the scientific method of the hypothesis and the null hypothesis.  Science is about hypothesis and theory.  As such, science includes not only the physical, biological, medical, and Earth sciences but also the social sciences.

Here at Helium we have science articles for the science newbie or for the post-doctoral.  Most people have questions about different aspects of science and here at Helium's Science Channel you can find answers to your many questions, whether it is a simple scientific question or something very complex.

Included here is  information on the Science Channel stewards, their related science zones and articles from our best science writers.  The Science News Feed brings in day-to-day science information.

Listed below are all the Sciences channels you can write to or read articles to find good information about science that you are researching.  There are also links to other relevant science websites that can help in study and research.

If you see a channel here that you would like to steward please contact me, Colette Georgii, your Science Channel Steward.

The Science Channel Stewards and their Science Zones

Maggie Skeel - Biology

Maggie's favorite channel within Biology is Zoology.  She not only teaches Zoology in Australia, but also knows all about animals and is into animal rescue.  She has created a zone about animals and for anyone who wants to learn more about animals.  Check out Maggie's zone for a detailed taxonomy of every livng animal: http://www.helium.com/zone/1614. Maggie's newest zone is all about the Great Barrier Reef - http://www.helium.com/zone/2927.

Ernest is a Chemistry teacher and chemist who is serious about the discipline of chemistry.  He is the Helium Chemistry guru in case you want to know more about chemistry.  To check out Ernest's zone go to http://www.helium.com/zone/2798

Alicia is a wiz at medical science and has developed five zones on aspects of medical science which are

http://www.helium.com/zone/1508 - Alicia Prater's Writing Zone - she concentrates on science articles

http://www.helium.com/zone/1705 - Bird Flu

http://www.helium.com/zone/2350 - DNA: The Basics of Genetics

http://www.helium.com/zone/1631 - HIV and AIDS

http://www.helium.com/zone/979 -  Medical Research

Ethel just became a steward recently.  She is concerned about the weather so naturally she is steward of the Atmosphere and Weather Channel.  Ethel is a wiz at building zones.  Check out her Atmosphere and Weather zone with interesting information about the weather around the world: http://www.helium.com/zone/2892

Amanda loves plants especially red maple trees.  She is Helium's Botany steward and you can find her delightful zone at http://www.helium.com/zone/2542.  Amanda's newest zone is all about Botany also: http://www.helium.com/zone/2992.

Yes that is me, Colette Georgii.  I am steward of the Science Channel.  My favorite science channels are the Social Science channels and the Earth  Channel so I have a zone all about the environment called Environment Central which you can see at http://www.helium.com/zone/1525. In case you are an environment nut like myself or want to know everything about what is going on in the world environmentally, check out my zone.

Of course, I am also building this zone, the Science Channel Zone for all dedicated scientists that visit Helium.  You can get to this zone at http://www.helium.com/zone/2744.  Well since you are here reading this, you probably already know that.

Ian Loft was once the Science Channel steward.  He got too busy with work and other things, so I took over as the Science Channel steward.  Previously I was the Ecology and Environment steward.  Ian is still very busy, so he hasn't done his zone yet.  I thought I was the turtle!!  So we will just wait for Ian to build the magnificent zone I know he can do.  Oh, he is the Earth Channel Steward.

James Johnson was briefly the steward for Ecology and Environment but resigned because he is real busy with a Pirate festival in Nevis where he also lives and works in the rainforest.  We hope he will come back but life goes on.  He however is still busy writing excellent articles for Helium and has built an excellent zone about nature and hiking which you can check out at http://www.helium.com/zone/2125

Helium's Science Channels

Below are listed all the science channels at Helium.  Click on a channel to read an article or write your own article.

The Mathematics Channel at Helium

The Mathematics Channel stands alone as one of Helium's science channels, but needs more sub channels such as Probabilities and Statistics, Calculus, Algebra, and Geometry.  Anyone interested in stewarding the Mathematics Channel please contact me, Colette Georgii by clicking on my name and when getting to my About Me page sending me a User Message.  You can also contact Sarah Bedrick, Paul Kerstein, or Janice Brand at Helium to learn more about stewarding a channel.

Mathematics is the ultimate science discipline.  Without mathematics there wouldn't be all the other sciences.  All the sciences use mathematical statistics in research; and use mathematical calculations within specific scientific laws and theories.

Click on the Mathmatics channel to read the Mathematics articles at Helium; or if you have special knowledge in math, write your own mathematics article.  If you have suggestions for titles in the Mathematics Channel please contact me, Colette Georgii, The Science Channel Steward.

The Social Science and Earth Science Channels at Helium

Click on any of these channels to read about or write to Social Science and Earth Science. I grouped the Earth Science and Social Science channels together because many things overlap when discussing and writing about issues in these channels.

Please contact me, Colette Georgii, if you have a burning passion for any of the science channels listed here and would like to be a steward for one of the channels.  You can click on my name and when you get to my About Me page, send me a User Message.  You can also contact Paul Kerstein, Sara Bedrick, or Janice Brand at Helium for information about becoming a steward.

The Physical, Biological, and Medical Science Channels at Helium

I grouped these science channels together because they all depend on each other.  Medical Science depends on the physical and biological sciences; and in turn biology and physical science works together.  However many of the biological sciences are important in the Earth Sciences as well.  And without the social sciences, nothing would work together with optimal efficiency.  We need all the sciences.

If you would like to steward any of the channels here, please contact me, Colette Georgii, by clicking on my name and when you get to my About Me page send me a message by User messages.  You can also contact Paul Kerstein, Sarah Bedrick, or Janice Brand at Helium for more information about stewarding at Helium.

Thanks all for your wonderful comments. Amanda - I have included your new zone - it was however listed under the zone links. Also have included Maggie's newest zone. The image is just a picture of mitosis and a microscope. I thought they uniquely illustrated science.
