Fast Food Cereal Box Toy Collections

Aging Kids Reduce Chances to Acquire Plastic Bag Toys

Collecting toys from fast-food restaurants and cereal boxes was a favorite thing of mine when my children were young tikes. In line with the fact that all things must change, my children grew older and lost interest in the kids' meals offering the collectibles. That was too bad for me because buying meals containing toys for the kids granted toys for me when we received items they already had or simply didn't want. I'm too 'grown' to order kids' meals for myself so I had to stop adding to my hobby with the last kids' meal I ordered for my kids a few years back. They also cut back on cereal eating and since I don't eat much cereal myself I became deprived in that area also.

At any rate, I have these collectibles I've been meaning to display and perhaps sell to collectors who may be more serious than I, and perhaps, braver than I when it comes to ordering kids' meals in adulthood. Although I run websites of my own, I believe the diversity of Helium's Betaville Zones makes Helium.com a great place to begin revealing my plastic bag collection. Therefore, I thank you Helium for providing me with this opportunity.

Favorite Fastfood Toys

McDonald's Kids' Meal toys are always colorful and very well-crafted. The varieties of toys they've offered in their meals include fancy figurines such as Barbies, Rice Krispies Kids, characters from children's movies like Space Jam and Bug's Life, Lego building blocks and more. The Barbies were some of my favorite McDonald collectibles, especially the ones wearing pastel colored dresses that came with mounting stands.

As much as I enjoyed McDonald's offerings, however, I must say that when Burger King came out with the Pokémon line, I nearly went berserk!! My son used to love Pokémon more than anything in the world and he convinced me to buy decks of Pokémon trading cards for myself so he could 'battle' me. Although I used to watch the television program with him, I'd figured that was more than enough and that if he wanted to battle a parent it should be his dad. Needless to say, things went my son's way and before we knew it he was battling me and two of his sisters several times a week. 'Knocking us out' became one of his favorite pass times until I learned more about my cards' powers and became more competitive. He still won me most of the time, but I didn't mind as long as I knew I'd eventually get another turn to shock him with Pikachu or another one of my electricity cards, or put him to sleep with Jigglypuff, or confuse him with Mewtwo's psychic powers. Besides, although a world of controversy surfaced in regards to the usefulness of Pokémon card gaming ten or so years ago, playing the game with my son taught me that many people complaining about kids spending so much time playing the game must never have played themselves. If they had, they would've realized the game actually teaches children concentration, analysis, and competition skills in ways similar to chess.

Any who, I really like the Jack in the Box antennae balls. Only thing is I like them so much I have only been able to make myself erect one of the few I've collected atop my antennae. I don't want the wind blowing them or raining wetting them or sun fading them--you know I mean?

Cereal Box Goodies

Cereal Box manufacturers often include toys in their breakfast cereal boxes for the same reasons as fast-food restaurants offer them---they can be irresistible! They are just as cute, just as colorful, and just as fascinating as kids' meal toys.

In addition to getting toys from  cereal boxes, I sometimes order items like cereal bowls, cups, and spoons from cereal companies because I like pouring cereal, milk, and juice in them. I also like watching kids eat and drink from them.

Washing cereal box toys is also fun because you get to see the little characters shine from the water. While cleaning them, especially the Kellogg's bowls and spoons with Snap, Crackle and Pop, I usually spend extra time admiring the way artists bring the little buggers "to life" if you will.

Hooray for cereal box goodies!!

This is a great zone idea! You should definitely take photos of your collection and add them to the zone. Seeing all the cute toys would definitely be a trip down memory lane for many of us.
