Earth - Give Us Another Chance

I Said A Prayer For You Today
Seasons of the soul
New beginnings, a spring like season arrives
Human birth, a seedling in the garden of life
Childlike innocence, eyes crystal clear, untouched
Taking first steps, discovering what the world is about
Discovery continues, awareness abounds
As summery days get fuelled with the energy of youth
Too many distractions leave no time for reflection
The passing of time seems to go unnoticed
All summer days have to come to an end
When the winds of autumn start to blow
The soul now starts to reflect, on times gone by
Bodies that never tired, now ask for help
The winter chill never felt this cold before
Bones never felt this weak before
The soul, too tired to remember its past
Now sits in the dark, awaiting its new chapter……
The road of her life....
The road ahead of her seemed wide and welcoming
A mirage cleverly created by a master illusionist
Confused she stopped in her tracks
There was still time to turn back, her footsteps to retract
Hoping for some advice, for some words of wisdom
No friends about, just her mind, her body, her soul
She knew this road had to be traversed
Its outcome to bear, for better or for worse
As the trees cast their long shadows in the sunset
The woman slowly started to walk the long road
Only once she turned her face to look back
The large sad eyes as if saying a final farewell
The cold wind seemed to nudge her back
But no turning back, she had chosen her own track
The lone figure walked the road into the sunset
The shadows lengthened as if to cover her footsteps…..
Africa - The Land I Love
Africa the land of my birth
where animals once walked without fear
stories told sitting around open fires
would make us quiver and tremble
... The car drives up the dusty path
cheers growing louder in the waiting crowds
dusty feet, hungry stomachs all forgotten
women dancing, singi...

LOVE, WEDDINGS AND ALL.........
 HEARTBEAT OF LOVE
This heart became yours when we fell in love Two hearts beat as one
Our happiness, our sadness now shared Two bodies breathe as one
Our lives as they continue to unfold Two souls exist as one
And as we succumb to the heartbeat of love Two bodies become as one
THE WEDDING
The date was set, the venue decided my daughter was to be wed, all of us felt so lightheaded
Days of planning, lists written then erased again emotions ran high, tears welling up again and again
And then the day finally arrived hours raced by, time did not seem to be by our side
And as she stood in front of me, my daughter, the bride beautiful and radiant, my tears I could not hide
She walked down the aisle a vision in white and gold Whispers, smiles and love in all the eyes young and old
The vows sincere and straight from two loving hearts Promises hoping to be kept by these two sweethearts
I watched, a proud mother, my heart full of happiness sentiments no words could possibly express
THE INDIAN BRIDE
She sits in silence head bowed as is the custom she looks at her hands and feet adorned with henna red and vibrant
she is the Indian bride dressed in red and adorned with gold she shimmers and shines with every move she makes
The women around sing in loud voices they nudge and joke with one another
the songs are full of banter today no holds are barred
The brides mother scurries around a lot to do so much to organise she gives her daughter furtive looks her heart filling with pride
Her daughter will do her proud she is brought up well she can cook and she can clean she can work if thats what she wants
The marriage was arranged two people brought together today they might be strangers tomorrow they will learn to love
There is music there is much dancing food and drink in abundance everyone wants to enjoy this the day of the wedding
The groom is brought in to sit with the bride they give each other secret glances it is rude to stare what will people say?
The night draws near the wedding is nearly over all get ready to leave it was quite a wedding
The groom leads the bride away this is the start of their life she walks slowly the heavy clothes drag her down
Her heart is beating she can hardly think straight a silent prayer passes her lips please let it all be okay
As they walk together she feels his hand they hold hands and she smiles she will be happy she knows it it was quite a day....the day of the wedding
Changed for ever
Hardened by life, built a shield for it's every blow
Cynical at the thought of love, no woman dare come close
He watched them from afar, just butterflies flitting about
Breaking hearts not even looking back to see the pieces
His heart he had pieced it back together
Somehow held it in place to help tick his life by
And then night after night he saw her walk into the bar
A young woman with hair that shone in every light
She sat alone lost in her own world of thoughts
Lost to the noisy world that revolved all around her
Now and again her hand would try and wipe
The tears that managed to escape those sad, dark eyes
He watched her from afar and tried hard to just ignore
And then he found himself walking right up to her
Two souls hurt in love, two broken hearts finally met
Found each other that fateful night
They talked, they cried, they listened
Two cynics changed that night, changed for ever

Death

Hopes for a world, pure...not tainted
Everything you ever wanted, but could never have
Things looked so near, yet remained so far
Like a Ghost, of human body devoid
Knows not how love can be enjoyed
Fate's plans, no one dare rent asunder
What is once written, sets itself in stone
Finding your path in that stony maze
Is like being in a fog thick with haze
Many seem to have it all, lives of plenty
A piece of paradise as if given to them for free
They flaunt it all, like peacocks in splendour
Strutting about no thoughts for humans lesser
You watch and give yourself the hope
All that glitters is never gold
Yearnings for now can stay unsatiated
Hopes for a future, a new world, pure, not tainted
Ancient Civilisations

Ancient cities, cradles of civilisations
Laid the roots, prepared the foundations
Left stories for generations to come
Mysteries unsolved, difficult to fathom
The pyramids, structures gigantic and awesome
Resting places for pharaohs of Egyptian kingdoms
The Greeks left us sports, left us philosophies
Their poets, scholars, filled pages of our history
Romans, those generals of Caesar’s fame
Gladiators of their times, war like, never ever tame
The Babylonians well known for their hanging gardens
Still being searched around in the Euphrates basin
The Indian civilisation, ancient and full of wisdom
Home of many saints, rites and many different customs
The Chinese had many different dynasties
Formulating a culture that began around the Yangtze
The Aztecs, architects who practiced human sacrifice
Had to give way to the Spanish, they paid their price
Our world saw other civilisations spread their roots
How much to write? Though they all deserve special tribute?
For you, my dearest brother
