Write for Helium's Newspaper Partners

Write directly for newspapers in your area and expand your publishing opportunities.

Helium's Newspaper Partnership Program

Writers who master the fine art of debate and lifestyle article-writing are in high demand among Helium's newspaper publishing partners. Helium has innovative partnerships with the Hearst and New York Times syndicated networks, as well as Community Newspaper Holding Inc. (CNHI).

Helium's Community Gateway program enables newspapers to engage local writers directly through Helium widgets. This provides more opportunities for writers and enables newspapers to expand their web presence and replace filler AP/UPI content with fresh, hyper-local feature stories.

Helium writers have many ways to participate:

  • Sound off on debates of the day -- topics vary from national to state-wide issues.
  • Write for paid stringer assignments in Marketplace .
  • Contribute hyper-local content for towns that Helium's newspaper partners call homebase. Helium's newspaper partners purchase select articles for one-time, non-exclusive use as stock content.
  • Gain more explosure through newspapers that co-brand with Helium to expand their online presence.

How can you get published in your newspaper by writing for Helium? Many ways...

1. Dive into Helium's Local Guides Channel. Write articles about everything you can think of for someone traveling to your region of the country. Share restaurant and local product guides. Write features on local businesses.

2. Pay attention to Marketplace alerts and newsletters calling for writers to contribute on issues relevant to citizens in your part of the country. If you see a newspaper debate topic, chime in and get published in your local Sunday paper. If there is a call for content, share what you know and use your close access to research the rest.

3. Consider yourself the Helium expert on your part of the country. Get recognized by filling up Helium with hyper-local content about your region.

4. Show your local newspaper how Helium's newspaper partners are getting their communities more involved in sharing their op-ed pieces and writing local lifestyle content. Write to partners@helium.com and get connected to our Marketplace and Community Gateway newspaper team members.

Newspapers energized by Helium partnerships

Newspapers are meeting more writers and readers through the Internet. But that doesn't mean you need to lose your daily paper. With the help of Helium partnerships newspapers become more interactive and reflective of their own local communities. That's a win/win!
