An Introduction to the World of Sailing

A resource for the novice or beginning sailor, with useful knowledge and links.

Parts of a Small Sailboat

A larger sailboat is basically very similar to a small one.  There are differences, however:

* Most larger sailboats have a fixed keel below, instead of a daggerboard.

* Many larger sailboats use a wheel to move the rudder, instead of a tiller.

* Larger sailboats usually have at least one cabin, entered through a main hatch.
