on Apr 09, 10 at 05:31 AM After the record-setting snowfall of 2010, spring has finally arrived. Southwestern Pennsylvania is incredibly beautiful in the springtime. Every rain drop increases the green hues on the lawns and the sun has all the early flowering shrubs and trees bursting with pink, yellow, purple and white. The forsythia reflect the sun and the tulips, daffodils and other spring flowers add their color song to the riotous beauty. on Feb 02, 10 at 04:34 AM We will soon know what Pennsylvania's most famous groundhog has to say about the end of winter in Pittsburgh. Whatever Punxsutawney Phil proclaims on February 2nd, Pittsburghers know winter isn't over just yet. It's been an odd year, alternating between heavy rains and lake effect snows. We had snow on Christmas morning, which is an unusual event in recent years, but it was nearly gone by the end of the day.
Who can forget the blizzard of '93 when more than two feet of snow fell in March? Phil predicted 6 more weeks of winter that year. Just because the calendar says it's coming near the end of winter, that doesn't mean winter is still around. Well, we'll wait to see what Phil has to say tomorrow. See you on Gobbler's Knob!
