ABOUT ME

My education started under a big mango tree in Miss Ethlyn's front yard. This was a Pre School in Lamb's River, a deep rural district in Westmoreland, Jamaica. I recall learning nursery rhymes, action songs and fairy tales with wide eyed wonder, excitement and curiosity. My imaginative skills were sharpened by these experiences and by the ghost stories told at nights by older relatives. There was no electric light for reading at nights nor for the viewing of television .So we congregated around kerosene lamps, shelling corn and listening to evening time drama on radio or ghost stories.

Having surmounted these challenges of rural living without basic amenities, I was confident in my approach to writing a good imaginative composition, when I was in third grade. Composition writing became my favourite subject in school followed by listening to stories and reciting poems. My interest in the written word continued to grow and literature, language and history became my favourite subjects. I felt a deep sense of accomplishment when the second subject I wrote was published in my high school magazine.

Another factor which contributed to the development of my writing skills was my employment of the art to convey through letters, information that were difficult to discuss verbally. Writing became an integral part of my life when I started keeping a daily journal. This started in my final year at high school, because I wanted to always remember those moments spent with the people and at the place that I loved most. Today I still keep journals including one in which I document my prayers and my spiritual battles. I also journal the complicated and baffling emotional turmoil of my romantic feelings, with a view to arrest, analyze and interpret them.

Writing poetry has been a creative outlet for me over the years. I have written over a hundred poems and have published a small anthology entitled 'Love Yourself'

I did not attempt to write articles until July of this year, when I met a young talented genius who tutored, encouraged and challenged me to do so. My brother introduced me to Hilium.com and guided me through the process of submitting articles there. Hence, I have published several articles on Helium.com.

I am charged with passion and enthusiasm to exceed the sky in my pursuit of excellence in writing and giving my readers the quality information and reading experience which is out of this world.

Relationships & Family > Love & Relationships Is true love really blind?

The generally accepted meaning of ‘love’ in the proverb ‘love is blind’ is the romantic variety. It has its roots in the Greek term Eros which describes the emotional and physical attraction between a male and a female. Eros is usually consummated through sexual intercourse. Romantic love is characterised by the conviction that time spent with the beloved is ‘special and separate from the experiences of all the other people in the world.
