About me - Michelle Graf

About me

My first "journalism" experience was an assignment to write a faux news article documenting one of the New Testament miracles for my Grade 4 catechism class at Veritas Elementary School in Terrace, B.C. I was hooked.

A career in journalism was not in the cards, however, and over the past twenty years I have amassed a wide range of work experience.

I proudly attained the rank of Associate in the Insurance Institute of Canada (now known as a CIP) after two years of independant study while working as an adjuster for an auto insurance company.   I also spend four years working in Workers' Compensation as a an adjudicator.

When insurance work wasn't available in one small community in which I lived, I had the opportunity to go from passionate volunteer to dedicated employee for the SPCA.  Always an animal lover, the year I spent working in the shelter was both exhilarating and heartbreaking.  I now know far more about the various infections and parasites that attack stray animals than I ever thought or wanted to know.  But I also know the joy of uniting a cast off animal with a new and forever, loving home.

I have lived in several places across Canada:  Terrace, B.C., Vancouver, Victoria, Edmonton, and Goderich, ON, and one American city, Asheville, N.C.  I love to travel, and have travelled extensively around North America and, regrettable only once, to Europe.

I share my home with my husband and our spoiled cat, Gracie.
