: About Me

Betty has done many different things in her lifetime which gave her insight and knowledge on many subjects. This is a little of her history.

Betty completed high school and went on to attend college. This brought her knowledge in accounting as well as in computers.

Writing has been a big part of her life and she is now a freelance writer. She has articles published from web sites In the US as well as Scotland and Ireland. She joined Helium a few years ago and finally found a home for writing.

Helium has offered her the challenges and joys of writing. She has sold many stock content articles and enjoys the competitiveness of writing contest. Helium has helped her grow to the point of starting a book of her own but that has taken a back burner due to lack of time at this point in her life.

During the years Betty has built up a little knowledge about a lot of things. She was property manager for five apartment buildings over the span of ten years. Not only did this give her an insight to different types of people but it also brought out her managing skills. It gave her hands on experience with the Landlord and Tenancy Act and how the court system works along with the many skills it takes to do such a job.

She oversaw a fifty six apartment complex that was built from the ground up which certainly gave her a better understand of building in general and the building codes and permits that are required. There was lots of information absorbed at this job.

Her hobbies are writing, reading,camping, fishing, embroidery, knitting, crochet, quilt making, and history programs. History is a passion and she finds herself facinated with it. Betty (and her hubby of 44 years) have two dogs Jett and Tanner and a cat (that thinks she is a dog) Mocha.

She is a  wife, a mother and a grandmother. They have two wonderful grandsons that are 17 and 13 years of age and being boys offer their own challenges to their mother but Betty can sit back and play Grandma. They live far away from Betty but travel makes the distance a lot closer as they sometimes travel to home or they travel to them.

 Betty also has a daughter that has spent most of her years helping children with sensory issues.This was due to her oldest son having brain damage which has given them an insight of many sensory issues. This promted thier daughter to form her own company Hugz4me. They love their daughter dearly and is very proud of her quest to help children. 

Betty's mother who is ninety taught her many good lessons that have stayed with her through her life time and to whom she is very grateful for the lessons that helped her to be who she is today.

Betty lives in the small coastal community of Grates Cove, Newfoundland, where peace reigns and there is beauty abound. She feels very fortunate to have the privilege of living there. It has close ties for her she was born here.
