About me - Leann Zotis

About me

I've wanted to write as long as I can remember. In grade school I started a family newsletter. It never made it beyond my front door, but my parents and older siblings seemed to enjoy my efforts.

In my twenties I tried my hand at writing a romance novel. I have rejection letters from every major, and most of the minor, romance publishers in the industry.

These days I am pursuing my writing passion in a variety of ways. I write my own blog, http://Daddy-Drives-Like-A-Maniac.com where I get on my soap box and rant and rave about the dangers of road rage.

My first sale through Helium was in April, 2008. It was an exciting and validating moment for me.  Since then I have been fortunate to sell a number of Marketplace articles, become a member of the Editorial Advisory Board and, most recently, to deepen my involvement with Helium by becoming a Channel Manager for the Distance Learning Channel, where I hope to get to know other Helium writers interested in developing their status on the site.

The ability to find an outlet here at Helium for this long struggling passion to write has helped me to grow and expand my horizons. I look forward to each new day and the opportunities that I hope to find before me.

Briefly me

My passion is ...

Learning. I want to master skills in web design, cooking, healthy living, and good relationships

I know too much about ...

how to overthink a subject to the point of letting the thought process paralyze the action process

My parents always told me ...

to eat dessert first. You never when the party will be over.

My childhood ambition ...

was to invent something. I didn't know what it was then, and I don't know what it is now, but I still want to invent something.

My favorite memory ...

Running through an overgrown field at a picnic at the age of five or six. I can still feel the sense of freedom and anticipation I found that day.

Why I write ...

To write is to have vision. I want to see.

What I am reading/watching/listening to ...

the beautiful (temporary) sound of silence.

My first job ...

Standing behind the counter at the neighborhood convenience store.

My best moment ...

Right now. The past is gone and forever carved in stone. The future can be hoped for, planned for, and desired, but it can never be lived until it becomes right now.

My inspiration ...

I have seen great changes in my time here on this planet. I am inspired each day to see what will happen next.
