"Scribble, scribble, scribble! Eh, Mr. Gibbon?" … so writes Rita Mae Brown in her book, "Starting from Scratch," self-described as a different kind of writer's manual. Most people do not know why they are writers. I started out as an artist, accidentally becoming aware that I enjoy writing even more by the time I reached the ripe age of 50. I even have a Google Page Rank of 3 on my blog, Way Cool Dogs.
I help run a dog rescue for unwanted and elderly dogs, which helped put together Way Cool Dogs. The purpose was to educate people about gentle care for their pets - general care, dogs and politics, medical education, natural medical care, dog food, some humor on raising and caring for them, a dog's life, and cartoons.
I feel that animals can speak to us, but we have to be able to know how to listen. I feel that my words speak for them, as I write about what they know and what they are capable of doing.
I have been a member of Helium since 2004 as a writer and now a professional. Somerset Maugham once said, "There are three rules for writing a novel. Unfortunately, no one knows what they are." This is how I feel about writing about animals … the world is an open door on ideas and opinions, but the truth never changes and cannot lie, things I continuously search for with my work.
As a freelance writer at Helium, I am currently a Writing Contest Winner, an Animal Professional & Animal Specialist, a Channel Manager for the divisions of (1) Dogs (Other) and (2) Animal Rights & Issues. I am also a Marketplace Approved Writer with sold articles and am on the Editorial Advisory Board as a Title Seeder. With over 300 articles written in Helium and hundreds throughout the web, I consider myself a prolific writer with a compulsive need to write on everything – focusing on dogs and animals as the love of my life. I write to make a difference, not to appease others or myself.

According to the Native Americans, the Great Spirit gave the dog to the people on Earth as a gift. And when God made the spiritual dog for them, he seemed to make it without ego. In actuality, it should surprise no one that a God-given gift would be without need of an ego. It should also surprise on one that the dog has a purpose on this earth that humans are blindly unaware of – an angelic job as a teacher of unlimited forgiveness and unconditional love for all. This does not take a lot of intelligence, but it does take pureness of heart and soul that few people have. People on Eart...
