Emma lives and writes in Roseburg, Oregon. She has three grown children, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

At age 61, I suffered a heart attack. When I got out of the hospital, I told myself, "I could have died, and I haven't written my memoirs for my kids." That's when I began to write. The more I wrote, the more memories came flooding in.

It took me a while but in 2003, Prairie Rattlers, Long Johns and Chokecherry Wine, Memoirs of the Silent Prairie, was published by Publish America. Three years later my second book, Beyond the Silent Prairie, a Love Story came out in paper back. Those two little books started my career in writing, and I haven't left the keyboard since then.

At the age of 70, after traveling for a few years after retiring, I launched a new career in needlework and writing. I designed and made needlecraft projects in crochet, knitting, tatting and plastic canvas needle work. I was successful in marketing and getting many of them published in national craft magazines.

I kept a journal along the way, so I have a lot of material to draw from for articles in Helium. I love all the ideas I get for subjects to write about in Helium.

88 Short Years I can't believe I'm finally old, It happened awfully fast They say I'll have 88 candles But I know I'll just have a blast. I may not dance and I may not sing, But I know I'll have a great time Just think, I have so many memories I can do it all again in my mind. I'll celebrate in spite of my age I'm happy to still be here, I'm glad I can still walk, and talk I've had a good long life, you hear? My hair is white, my wrinkles are here But they bring me respect and love Getting old isn't as bad as you may think I have blessings from Heaven above. I have family who love me forev...
