I was born in Manchester, NH an old mill town. Both of my grandfathers and one of my grandmothers worked for the Amoskege Textile Mills. The Amoskege was a company that existed on its own resources and provided housing for its workers. Both of my parents grew up in corporation housing. My grandfathers families immigrated from Glasglow Scotland to work the mill and my grandmother came from Old Town, Me. to work as a weaver. My family didn't move around much, we have been in Manchester since the early 1890's. Our family has attended the same church since 1911. There is a comfortable familiarity to my home town. I attended the same grammer school that one of my great uncles and grandmother did. (I grew up in the house that my great grandfather built.) I attended the same high school that my grandparents and parents attended. Staying in the same area has had a great influence on my life and my family life.
My passion is ...
music and the arts.
I know too much about ...
life and hard work. My dad taught my brothers, my sister and myself that there was nothing wrong with hard work. Follow through to the end and enjoy the results.
My parents always told me ...
every story has two sides to it, but always wait to hear the third angle to get the big picture.
My childhood ambition ...
to excel in music. To perform and enjoy the response that others had to my work.
My favorite memory ...
Christmas as a child. My grandmother would come and stay with us. Christmas morning she would make breakfast with my father and we would open presents together. After we were dressed in our new Christmas outfits, we would go to church with my grandmother and just enjoy the quiet time that church afforded for us as a family.
Why I write ...
I want to be able to reach out to others and pass along some of my life's experiences. My hope is what I experienced and share will help someone else along the way.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
this is a hard question to pin point any one thing. I enjoy whatever is done well and is entertaining.
My first job ...
was working in the kitchen at the Veteran's Hospital.
My best moment ...
Is a blend of my married life. It's being married to my husband for over thirty years, the birth of my three children and the birth of my seven grandchildren.
My inspiration ...
has been my grandmother. She spent most of her life in a wheel chair, but she didn't let that keep her from doing what she enjoyed. She had a very good outlook on life despite her disability.
Life and circumstances are connected by circles. Watch nature and you'll realize that the year moves in a circle. Mother Earth's dawning is the coming of the spring. Along with her waking, she brings forth new life. The soil breaks an allows new plants into their infancy. Animals give birth and introduces their babies to the awaking Mother Earth. There is a freshness to the world, bringing hope and comfort to all of the living creatures. The first song of the birds in the spring are the sweetest and the small animals break their burrows and explore for food. Spring is the time for Mother's...
