My first exposure to symptoms of onslaught type 1 diabetes occurred en route home from a White Sox game back in 1986. My ten year old daughter expressed a huge desire to relieve herself and suddenly in the car she involuntarily did so. I was unaware that my greatest fear would soon unfold and she would become a type 1 diabetic. Unbeknown st to myself and her father, what the Dr. termed the flu, was in fact, diabetes. Over the course of a few weeks she lost weight and drank a lot of water. Her blood sugar was on the rise. On a Thursday she was taken to the Doctor, at which time he expressed...
