After a period of absence, the Doctor returned to the small screen and is now more popular than ever.

As a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey, he has two hearts and nine lives, and after multiple reincarnations his current embodiment should, strictly speaking, be his last. So let's hope the present incumbent David Tennant is here to stay, as he's proved to be a great choice for the role.
