My literary efforts have been primarily in SF, though of course my reading is not restricted to the area. Anything with an element of the fantastic will do; anything else is soap-opera, which has to be as dreary to write as to read.
I've been writing since adolescence, everything from short-stories to journals to novels. I have no training in the area, having chosen passion and hard-knocks over formal education. Sometimes I'm not sure that was the wisest choice of my life, but there it is. My instruction, if you want to call it that, has come from extensive reading - classics, contemporary fiction, science, history, philosophy - and my own humble desire to write well. I am appalled on a daily basis by the level of sub-literacy encountered on the web (yes, unfortunately, even on Helium in spots), as well as supposedly reputable print newspapers and magazines.
For good or ill and whatever comes of it, I am a writer, and wouldn't know how to stop if I were of a mind to do so. Writing is a huge part of what I am, and how I think, and what motivates me. I am constantly on the look-out for opportunities to make my living behind the keyboard. atonygaz@yahoo.com
UPDATE: Having seemingly washed out of the SF magazine market, I am re-grouping, looking for a new approach and/or genre - I may have to create it myself.

I suppose there could be some of you in radioland who are unfamiliar with the services offered by these three commentators, and I must say my envy of you is not inconsiderable. A quick synopsis, purely for informational purposes, may be in order (for more detail than serves our needs here, I sug...
