Child abuse and drug use are the worst. When I was in foster care, most of my peers were in foster care because of neglect, and rarely actual abuse. The thing is when it comes to abuse in many cases the parent provides and cares for the child and the child loves it parent but there are times of abuse. I think what you should do if you can is if the child is school age, for you to incourage the child to tell someone they trust like an adult at school, this will teach the child its wrong to hit your kids and even as adults, people make mistake.
