Katrina Comens is a native Floridian and loves to find inspiration in the diverse population around her. She has written and performed poetry and monolouges locally in Sarasota, FL, and is supportive of many human rights and enviornmental causes. She currently resides in Miami with her three cats, dog, and rat.
-Just off 19th Avenue- It was a wet time, the days when the sun waved over the sidewalks after every rainstorm. The houses smelled musky, had lizards clinging and climbing up cracked drywall and generic canned foods lined every cupboard on the block. Even today, some are still waiting for the next big hurricane. Just off 19th avenue, broken cement and gravel driveways with cars that sporadically started, never when they were most needed.
