Many modern day atheists don't believe that a curiosity in religion is a necessity. The problem is what the church started many many years ago, when it was absolute heresy to discredit God. Many, at the time, thought it an act of witchcraft to ask about their God, perhaps to further any curse that the non believer might have on them. Well, we all know that times have changed and so have the opinions of many believers, no matter what the religion is.
