I grew up in a small town in Southern Oklahoma. My Dad was a peanut farmer and raised cattle. When I remember my childhood, it always includes horses, cattle, tractors, hay, and all the other things that are associated with farm life. Our closest neighbor was about a half a mile away, so life was pretty solitary and inducive to using the imagination.
My passion is ...
watching people. It is a favorite hobby of mine. It is amazing how much you can learn about people just by watching.
I know too much about ...
nothing. I know a little bit about many different things but not a whole lot about any one thing.
My parents always told me ...
There were no words of wisdom, I obtained my values from watching them along with my grandparents, aunts, uncles.
My childhood ambition ...
was to teach my horse to talk like Mr. Ed.
My favorite memory ...
any memory that includes my children or close friends.
Why I write ...
it is my therapy.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
the music that I grew up with. Mostly classic rock. I am not watching much these days and I haven't read any books lately.
My first job ...
In the peanut field when I was about 7 years old. I would get the tow sacks so they could be filled with raw peanuts from the combine. I made $4 that night. It is probably the most important money I have ever made in my life.
My best moment ...
was when I realized I had the potential and motivation to do whatever I set my mind to.
My inspiration ...
life.
Here I sit, A blank page before me. Absent of content, Pregnant with possibility. Where do I look, What shall inspire? The song of a bird, The tread of a tire? Should it be long, Should it be short? Based on truth, Or the truth distort? Shall I sing The praise of romance? Shall I portray The beauty of a dance? Oh, What shall I say? Where do I start? This blank page before me, And nothing to impart!
