Jakarta Alchura is my pen name, of course. My friends call me Jer and I am a writer. I have been married for 11 years now and have a beautiful wife and two wonderful children. I graduated with my Associates degree and put off becoming a Kindergarten teacher to pursue my dream of becoming a published author. We have 4 pets; 2 dogs & 2 cats.
I read and write a lot and spend most of my time with my family. We love going on hikes, going to the beach, and playing games outside. I enjoy having deep emotional and intellectual conversations. I like Nickelback the best. I also like Daughtry and a lot of top 40 hits and a bit from each genre. I like listening to oldies and 80's and 90's and hip hop and rap and country (Billy Currington-Good Directions& Rascal Flats) and rock. Bon Jovi is awesome. The only thing I don't like is heavy metal.
I enjoy dvd's better than going to the movies and some of my favorites include: Beverly Hills Cop, All Adam Sandler Movies, Fight Club, Any Edward Norton Movies and Any Matt Damon Movies, Forest Gump, Higher Learning, Grandma's Boy, Knocked Up, Sandlot, Stand By Me, Dream a Little Dream, Dead Again, Identity, Momento, Matrix, Superbad, Back to the Future, and the iconic American Pie.
I Tivo most stuff cause I don't make the time to watch it when it comes on and I also don't care too much for commericals, so I record it and watch it later without them. Some shows I have on my DVR include:
Ax Men, Whale Wars, Grey's Anatonmy, Fringe, The Mentalist, Hell's Kitchen, and Lie to Me.
As far as books go, James Patterson is my favorite author by far. I also enjoy reading Grishman, Ann Rice, Sidney Sheldon, Lisa Gardner, Dean Koontz, and John Sanford (Prey Series). I also enjoy reading non fiction as well.
This past year I have read over 30 books for my research for an upcoming book about slavery and the Underground Railroad. I have also been reading some of Carl Jung's work.
My heroes are God and those who gave their life on 9/11/2001. Also, every Veteran, solider, widow, and anyone else giving up their lives, so we can have the freedom we so cherish...and all of the Correctional Officers, Police Officers, Fireman, and Paramedics out there making a difference everyday...and of course to all those mothers and fathers out there making a difference as well...

Correctional Officers as a social group, though they are rich in diversity and are culturally complex, are not viewed as a deviant group by society. They are an integral part of a solution to the major sociological problem of deviance and criminality within our society, therefore they are not considered to be part of a deviant subculture. The normative order is defined as a societies sets of rules and behaviors that originated from the societies values and dictate how a society is maintained. It is the normative behavior and adherence to the rules that is expected from each member. Through...
