My first venture into the writing world was on FaithWriters.com. My Christian beliefs and my love of a good story have inspired me to write almost 100 short stories, poems, and essays that appear on that site. Twenty of my pieces have been selected as Editor's Choices and have been or will be in FaithWriters anthologies.
I am also a contributing author for an offshoot FaithWriters group called Peculiar People. I wrote a chapter in the PeP book 'Struggle Creek', and am currently writing a novella to be included in an upcoming PeP project.
I began to explore the world of nonfiction online publishing to feed my love for doing research into diverse topics. My more than 150 nonfiction articles and product reviews appear on Helium, Associated Content, Shared Reviews, Triond, epinions, and Constant Content.
One of my more reflective essays has appeared in the print magazine Brave Hearts put out by Ogden Publishing, Inc.
I am a wife of 27 years, and mother to three daughters. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Superior with an elementary education major and a music education minor, I left the teaching field when I had my third child. Well, maybe not totally, since I am a veteran homeschooler of fifteen years.
My passion is ...
to continue learning throughout life.
I know too much about ...
Victorian London and the East End.
My parents always told me ...
to be honest in everything.
My childhood ambition ...
was to be a high school band director.
My favorite memory ...
was of setting up camp one chilly night on the Rainy River, Minnesota-Canadian border, looking up into a sky full of stars that seemed to be gazing into the mirror of the waters below.
Why I write ...
I write because I like the sense of accomplishment, and, when I write for a Christian audience, my words can heal broken spirits.
What I am reading/watching/listening to ...
one of the Anne Perry mystery novels set in Victorian London. I don't watch television. I listen to Christian praise and worship music.
My first job ...
was at a northwestern Wisconsin resort cleaning cabins.
My best moment ...
In almost fifty years of living, there have been far too many to pick out just one.
My inspiration ...
is Jesus Christ, my Savior and Master, and the Holy Spirit which dwells within me.
Have your jeans become so frayed and ripped that you no longer want to be seen in public wearing them? No need to banish them to the garbage can if you are creative and have a sewing machine and rotary cutter or scissors.
Besides wielding scissors to make your old jeans into cut-off shorts, you may design quite a variety of useful things from your denims. I once made a baby shower gift from an old pair of jeans and a towel. I made a paper pattern of a bib, then cut matching pieces from the denim and the towel. Pinning those two pieces back to back, I machine-sewed orange single fold bias t...
