Being born on August 13, 1955 in a small South Carolina "cotton mill" town, I was raised with two older sisters, and the same mom and dad...a rarity in our world of blended families. Daddy died in May of 1965, leaving me to be raised in "a house full of women", as Momma liked to say. Since Momma worked, we girls were assigned household chores, and these responsibilities were enforced with the threat of restriction from weekend activities if not completed by Friday night. Even then, my mom had wonderful decorating tastes. One of my favorite "chores" was decorating the house for holidays. Momma saw to it I had lots of items to work with. Our all-white bathroom, being the only one in the house, was overhauled with matching towels, toilet-cover sets, and even plasic flowers and vases. She definitely nurtured my inherent sense of style.
After my first husband turned out to be a spouse abuser, I moved to the "big city", our state capitol, Columbia, and fell in love with a general contractor. For five years, I was his "girl Friday", doing everything from coordinating paint colors with wallpaper to running to get lunch for his crews. Again, my sense of style came into play when he began investing in houses for re-sale...now termed "flipping". The relationship ended amicably, and I returned to my hometown for some needed "grounding".
Today, I am happily married to a man who knows what he likes and dislikes in his own home, and admires my ability to envision a finished project. I am his appointed "house manager", and personal servant to two cats. My newest personal project is learning how to drive a semi tractor-trailer truck!

After watching the first Presidential debate between these two men, I have concluded several things about the mind-set of each of them. I do not claim to be psychic, here, just extremely aware of body language. John McCain seemed to have been stuffed into his suit, and his neck looked uncomfortable in his shirt and tie. I expected him to do a Rodney Dangerfield impression at any minute, in order to be able to breathe. Barack Obama seemed to have picked a well-fitted suit, with a shirt and a necktie that did not seem to be wringing his neck. The difference here is that McCain came across as...
