Hello and welcome! Here is a little information about me and what I do.
I am a copy writer (I telecommute). I get to work at home in my pajamas and drink Frappuccino and eat ice cream while I work!
I also write for a greeting card company and have just received my first Publication Option Agreement with them, which means they have selected one of my submissions for possible publication. The manuscript has to go through marketing first which could take up to 2 years! (wish me luck!). I had previously been a finalist in one of their bi-annual contests and that is when they asked me to start submitting more to them.
I homeschool my niece (I am raising her) and I am taking my college courses through distance learning which is similar to homeschooling. It is difficult, but I prefer it over being in the classrooms. I do take my math classes on campus, however, because I need the help!
I am working on my Bachelor's degree, majoring in Professional Writing on the creative track. I have an Associates Degree in education.
I have written feature articles for Jr. College; news stories for a gymnastics center; newsletters for local BPW (Business and Professional Women); news articles for local Historical Museum to publish in local newspaper; and dabbled here and there.
I am a member of a local writers' group which has been inspirational and motivational. The group was organized through a senior citizens center and they consider me to be an honorary senior citizen.
My niece is age eight and has also been an honorary member and writing stories since the age of four. The group is wonderful in their support of her writing and they give her caring critiques of her work. She has, at times, given them her critiques of their work.
I am also a piano teacher and a stained glass artisan. My dream is to make my writing pay in some way. (Update - it is now that I have the copy writing job . . . and hopefully the greeting card gig will start to pay eventually.)
I plan to start a writers' group for children when my college coursework slows down for me and when I feel more equipped (educated) to do so.

Is Homeschooling Better Than Formal Education? Yes, in many ways homeschooling is better than formal education. Is it flawless? No. Neither is formal education. Obviously, homeschooling is not an option for everyone, nor is it the best choice for every student. Not every parent is equipped or willing to homeschool. However, as exposure to bullying, violence, drugs, and sex, and poor performance scores within school systems is becoming more prevalent, more and more families are considering homeschooling and are pulling their children out of public schools.
