Asbestos is a fibre which is commonly used in the building trade, usually to aid fireproofing and insulation, this is due to the long, threaded fibres contained in asbestos which are heat resistant and do not conduct any form of electrical charge. The tiny fibres which make up asbestos are easily swallowed if disturbed, so anyone working near asbestos or within a demolition site where asbestos is present must ensure that they are fully protected.
