About me - D. Brawn-Mitchell

About me

As a child, I daydreamed - I spent a lot of time at it. It's time to get my thoughts, ideas, and dreams down on paper.

Since I have started writing on a committed basis, I realize how essential writing is; it is my way of appreciating and celebrating my unique life - the good with the bad.

I (with my husband), am an empty-nester. It's a good time so far. I have a great job as a technical writer. Recently, I have finished a diploma of creative writing courses for writing for children. Many of my stories are about my children's adventures growing up in Africa.

One of my great loves is to travel. The thrill of each journey renews itself as I write about each marvellous place I visit. A recent trip was to Malta in September/06 - a place of discovery and mystery. I'm drafting a children's book about the pirates and knights that are now the ghosts that haunt the island. I love writing.

I heard the grown-ups say that the winter had been a hard one, meaning a lot of snow all winter with no "thaws", just raw cold. I don'...
