About me - Melissa R. Bickel

About me

I'm Melissa self taught poet and writer. Having no formal schooling in either, each hold a fond place in my heart.

I love the movement of my pen and the sometimes unpredictable path it has led me on. Poetry is my main forte when it comes to writing. The exhilaration of the pulse, the rhythm of the lines and the after effect of the words, leaving me breathless and wanting more.

I've had the pleasure of being named the first prize winner for poetry in a contest my state of Oklahoma hosted for writers. I've had a creative piece bought and published and a writers site published two of my poetry pieces on their site.

It amazes me that people think some of my poetry and writings are worthy enough to be hosted, bought or published. I am so very greatful to everyone for the blessings that have come my way. Thank you hardly seems sincere or enough, but "THANK YOU" it's truly humbling.

As far as freelance writing, I've recently enjoyed writing articles regarding fundraising. I hope to expand my borders to include more as my skills in freelancing improve.

She felt a tickle at the back of her throat. Swallowing what spit she could muster up, she washed the cough away. Some time ago these rooms had been lived in. The room Karen stood in now showed evidence of a room once full of life. Tattered paisley curtains hung from broken curtain rods. A yellowed chair held up a sagging wall. Varies bits of paper were tossed here and there, like some tic...
