Polonius, a character in Hamlet by William Shakespeare, was not a well-chosen candidate as a royal advisor. Political advisors should be wise and clever, but Polonius was neither. Although many believed he was a wise, worldly man, he was little more than the king's puppet. Polonius was a poor father; he only thought about his personally wellbeing and was willing to sacrifice his child's for personal glory.
