I'm an [early] 40-something, with two beautiful children. I developed an interest in writing at a very early age ~ short stories, mostly. Currently, I enjoy writing short stories, participating in role-playing stories and blogging. I joined Helium because I admire what the site provides ~ the opportunity to share perspectives based on our experiences. We have the chance to see things through the eyes of our fellow writers and, perhaps, say, "Wow, I never thought of it that way before." If one person gains something from one of my articles, I'm happy.

I can't say that I have only ONE best friend. Although this probably goes against the definition of "best" friend, but I believe that one can have many "close" friends, all of whom fulfill different needs within us. Many of us grow up with one person who sticks with us through thick and thin, despite distance and not being in contact regularly.
