I am a retired teacher having taught in shools then in Colleges of Further Education. My subjects were from Special Needs and Swimming to History and Philosophy and Classical Civilisations.
Before that I was a sailor in the R.N. and R.A.N. I enjoyed the Australians best of all.
Thogh retired I am making a new career as a writer having a book of short stories based on incidents and people in the Gospels. It is not the usual Bible stories but Historical Fiction. It is called First Century Close-Ups. This was followed by a small volume of poetry. Why are volumes of poetry always small? Mostly because the poets have to pay to publish. There is so much gift out there in the wide world and so few publsihers and potential readers. We poets end up reading to eachother in small poetry groups.
When I got fed up with teaching my son and I worked servicing moorings on the harbour at Portsmouth(England).
My son ran the boat and I worked under water. Now I am a bit too old for that sort of thing.
Life is exciting with a display of historical materials about the reform movements to take to the shows and events in the Summer. In the Winter there is the market where I give away books and Bibles from my stall and write or amuse my grandchildren. One is always learning and meeting new people. I have many friends, some from the old days when I was a sailor, some new ones, market traders, and, most interesting of all Gypsy folk who never cease to excite my wonder and respect.

LOVE LAUGHTER AND LONG LIFE. When we try to explain the workings of love we enter, not a dark and gloomy cave of ignorance, of mental obscurity and illusion. Rather we step from the dusk of evening into a sumptuous ballroom bright with lights some of many colours, some reflected from mirrored walls and ceilings and from the precious stones and sequins on the exotic clothes of the dancers.
