After working in the mental health field for fifteen years, I began to focus full time on writing. I have been published in several wonderful family oriented magazines such as Focus On The Family, Grit, Capper's, Country Woman, and others. My hometown newspaper, The North Georgia News, published a feature article by me as well as a political cartoon.
In September of 2007, I won third place in a writing contest. As a result, my story was published as part of the book, If Only I Could Tell You..., by Kate Harper and Leon Marasco.
I will be published in the May issue of Country Extra. I enjoy writing prose, poetry, and editorial pieces. I believe that Helium is one of the best sites for aspiring journalists, poets, authors, and freelance writers.
My husband and I live in the beautiful North Georgia Mountains, just a couple of miles from the North Carolina border. We enjoy having nature up close and personal, as when we walk with the deer or feed the birds from our hands. Since our son and daughter are grown, we have adopted two beautiful Tabby brothers, Amos and Andy. We have enjoyed spoiling them almost as much as we did our two grandchildren, Allen-age 16 and Whitney-age 9.
I attended Pearl River Community college in Pearl River County, Mississippi and the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. I received an honorary doctorate in Biblical Counseling from the Progressive Universal Church of Christ.

How I long for autumn days
with cooler nights and shorter days.
Trees of yellow, orange, and red
show the earth in a golden haze.
How I long for autumn days
with longer nights and cooler days.
I love to watch the leaf ballet
danced in air before they lay.
I know the trees will soon be bare,
but, oh, the joy that takes us there!
For all the autumns of my life,
not one winter would I spare.
