Poetry cannot rightly be called poetry without both the passions of the heart and the mind in complete harmony. In my estimation, that is the very definition of poetry. It is a powerful phenomenon when the heart is utterly reeling from some momentous event, and the mind is apt and keen enough to carve out the writhing, pulsing, heart and carefully place it on a sheet paper. The heart itself, although the source of passion, cannot itself produce great poetry.
