I am a Lighting Director / Designer in the entertainment industry. I am currently the house LD at Harrah's and Harvey's in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. I settled into Lake Tahoe at the age of 19 being drawn to the mountains. I am totally addicted to rock climbing, snow skiing and white water rafting and have been for thirty years. The outdoors play a huge part in my life. I also coach soccer in what ever spare time I can muster up. My children have all participated in all my outdoor activities and they enjoy them all. Rafting and skiing are the most popular (seasonal).

I am totally reluctant to share a phenomenon that is all too rare in Southern California.
Believe it or not, there is a State Beach in San Diego County that usually has great waves for surfing, boogie boarding and body surfing amid a relatively quiet open beach. Many, many moons ago this beach was known as Big Tree. Just up the highway from Moonlight State Beach in Encinitas lies this little gem that features beautiful lefts that are often observed from the top of the cliffs. The catch is that the parking lot is rather small but usually you can find a good spot if it's not the weekend....
