About me - Jamil Hall

About me

Hi, my name is Jamil, and I have spent the majority of my life writing. Ever since I was a little kid, the best thing to be doing was writing, or to be sitting somewhere deep in a book that would astound whoever came over to see what I was doing because it was meant to be too 'old' for me. Whatever.

My dream would one day to have a library in my home, with one of those ladders that skim around on the rails so you can get to the top shelves. Chkls... With any luck, my library will be bigger than the rest of my actual house...

I'm now a published author, and was looking to write some more...
I believe passionately in the power of the written word, and the spoken inflection. I calculate and weigh every word I use, balancing it in my mind against what I want my words to say, to convey to the audience. I have a strong flair for drama, but still abhor melodrama, the constant cliches that categorise the catechisms of careless characters. I also like alliteration. :D
I have about five novels on the go, in various stages of development, but only two that are in any way close to being of a decent length at the moment. I write poetry as an outlet, as a sort of catharsis.
I'm currently studying theology, with a view to go into teaching.
This is subject to change, because there is just so much that I want to study, it'd take a lifetime to do it all...

Good thing that's what I have, huh?

There is no crime greater than to close one's mind.

"I hope you went out smiling like a child into the cool remnant of a dream."

The Dreamer. A thousand false starts; He has a gift for exaggeration. His fingers tremble and flicker; And fresh lies appear to entertain you. His mind is unstable, but he knows that's Where the fresh hook will appear from; Writhing from between his filthy thoughts And decaying memories of what it was to be Alive. How can beauty emerge from this leprous mind? (For he knows beauty; has known beauty, Having had it at his fingertips for so long.) He considers for a moment; changing a word to Fit his purpose, to fit the meaning he knows In his head. It won't matter what you think. In his mind ...
