Over the years, there have been many genres of horror movies. There are those who set out to scare, those who took the comedic route, and those who just threw stuff together. It seems horror and comedy are like salt and water, they can be used seperate or together, but sometimes the water gets too salty. I recall the "Return of the Living Dead" movies, which took the comedic route. The movies were entertaining, who doesn't like seeing zombies crying out for "brains" and using police radios to "send more cops". It seems that most horror movies throw in a bit of comedy to settle the audience....
